Tired of your beloved jewellery tarnishing, fading, rusting or getting scratched? Upset when your ear lobes get inflammed and swollen from metal allergies? If your answer is yes, that's exactly for these reasons that we chose Food grade 304 and 316 Surgical Stainless Steel as our primary metal base for our collection while we do have Titanium and Aluminium metal options for those with extra sensitivity to nickel metal.

Let me share with you why we love 304 and 316 Stainless Steel.

Gold, silver and brass are dominating the jewelry market but stainless steel is quickly growing as a preferred material. As Stainless steel is durable, tough, affordable and resistant against scratches, it's an obvious metal choice for  women and men.

Stainless steel is made from chromium, nickel and titanium. It is a strange alloy which is inexpensive but very durable, highly utilitarian and yet it looks nice. Unlike some alloys that look bland or cheap, stainless steel doesn’t look cheap despite being affordable. Stainless steel jewellery are gaining popularity across the world. They are being used as normal gifts, as special gifts and many couples keep their expensive jewellery safe and wear stainless steel ones instead for daily use. Why? Find out below.

1. Stainless steel is durable - Stainless steel is a very strong metal and can withstand daily wear. You can wear it every day and keep doing all your normal and heavy duty tasks without worrying about damaging the jewelry. Stainless steel accessories are likely to hold its original shape for a lifetime.

2. Ages well and doesn't tarnish - Stainless steel is resistant to scratches, corrosion, heat and general signs of aging. The material won't tarnish and thus it will not turn your skin green or grey from the tarnishing metal. It requires almost no maintenance. The material doesn’t get damaged being overexposed to water.

3. Won't dent or get scratched. Stainless steel will not dent or get scratched like sterling silver. The chromium in the alloy makes it impervious to oxidation too. Even if you wear it every single day, it will retain its luster and look as good as new a year later.

4. It's hypoallergenic. Traditional metals can cause an allergic reaction while stainless steel is unlikely to cause any reaction at all. While some varieties of stainless steel can trigger allergies in people who are allergic to nickel, we chose food grade 304 and surgical steel 316 as our metal base as it doesn't cause skin allergies according to a study, thanks to the chromium which forms a strong coating over the metal.

5. Stainless steel jewellery are affordable. Best value for money! It is cheaper than gold and silver yet it is much stronger, requires less maintenance and is friendly to sensitive skin. What is there not to love!?

Sounds too good to be true? Are there any cons of stainless steel metal you may ask? I heard your inner voice screaming your disbelief of its goodness ;p Yes, the answer is yes, it does have cons to it.

It contains nickel - Stainless steel has nickel and some people are allergic to the metal. Should you have any history of severe nickel allergy or you have extra sensitive skin then you could explore our Titanium or Aluminium metal jewellery.

In fact, the Euroinox publication 'Stainless Steel-The Safe Choice' shows results of nickel release tests from some of the most widely used stainless steel grades in synthetic sweat, along with results of allergic reaction patch tests. Clinical patch tests reinforced the nickel release sweat test results showing no allergic reaction in grades (304) (304L) (316) (316L).

Rigid material - Stainless steel is a rigid material. Hence, you cannot get the kind of complicated or uniquely intrinsic deigns that you get with silver or gold. Stainless steel would mostly be the typical round rings with very little uniqueness in design. Most designs will be of the same kind.
