Ok guys, if you are a busy professional or homemaker whose every second counts, this post is going to make your skincare routine simpler and yet give you a glowing and flawless skin for you.

We have heard about how many insist on a six-step skincare routine daily which not only burns a hole in our pockets but also consumes so much of my precious seconds in front of the mirror and pumps my skin with so much chemical-laden exfoliaters, cleansers, toners, serums, moisturisers and sunscreen. Have you read the ingredient list before, ever? Sheesh, it's scary!

Purpose Behind SkinCare Rituals

So I took a deep dive to understand the purpose of suggested skincare routine in an attempt to simplify the processes involved.

1) We usually exfoliate and cleanse our skin to remove the dead skin cells as humans lose around 500 million skin cells every day so dead skin can build up pretty quickly.

2) We apply toner to 'wet' our face so that the subsequent applications get adsorbed into the skin better. I busted the myths surrounding the use of toner in a youtube video. So toner won't be required as long as you apply subsequent products on moist skin (don't overdry). However for those with oily skin, toners may be necessary to control oil production especially if they don't have salicylic acid in their other skincare products but if that ingredient is included in them, they may skip this too!

3) We apply serums to give the areas that need some repair additional boost, reduce signs on anti-aging and/or want a flawless skin. I have found this to be a bonus to have if you are very particular on how your bare face looks but i definitely saw my face becoming clearer and glowing when I added a home- made Vitamin C serum to my routine.

4) We apply moisturisers to hydrate our skin failing which it will become dry, brittle, or cracked. Once you have lost your outer skin shield, the inner skin layers are vulnerable to exposure from the outside and infections can easily occur as bacteria can enters the dermis through the cracks on the surface.

5) We apply sunblock or suncreen because using it daily, even when it is cloudy or raining, dramatically decreases your risk of developing skin cancer, reduces possibility of sunburns and did you know that 80-90% of aging is caused by UV rays alone. Do I even need to elaborate more? If you want to age graefully, this is a big Must!

Simplified 3-Step SkinCare Routine That Works Using All-Natural, Chemical/Allergy-Free, Skincare Product DIY Recipes

So after years of google research and home trials, fails and successes, this is what i will advice - trash the six-step skin care routine. I will simplify it to a 3-step method for you! This is what you will need:

2) A plant-based Vitamin C serum by Dr Vivek using just 4 ingredients. I will also soon be sharing a video on the same content on how to diy your own vitamin c serum not using Ascorbic Acid which is highly unstable but instead using a plant-based vitamin C which is not only so much more stable. However do apply this at night after cleansing as vitamin c may cause sun sensitivity; and

For toners, I did previously share a youtube video on how we can do away with toners in which I also shared a single-ingredient toner which you can diy at home if you have oily skin or prefer having one. Alternatively, you can just also boil orange peels in water for 3-5 mins and once cooled, drain the water and use that as toners too. It becomes an vitamin c toner, so cool!

How to Apply?

There is a basic rule of thumb. After cleansing, apply products from the thinnest consistency to the thickest. That is why toners are applied first (water-like consistency) and creams the last (thickest).

If you make the recipes I advised above, in the morning, you just need your cleanser and moisturising sunscreen facial oil. In the evening, add the vitamin c serum before the facial oil and that's it!
